Celebrity Traitors fans 'gutted' as Hannah Fry banished

Celebrity Traitors fans were left "gutted" on Thursday night (October 15) after one star was allegedly "dealt the worst hand". It comes as a second series of the BBC reality show enters its third week.

Series Premise and Departures So Far

The second series follows the same premise as the first. A group of 21 celebrity contestants – the majority of whom are known as Faithfuls – must try to seek out the murderous traitors among them, who kill off players in the middle of the night. Stars compete to win a cash prize of up to £100,000 for a charity of their choice.

Stars who have already left the show include actor Richard E Grant who was made a Traitor and was first to be banished, journalist and broadcaster Amol Rajan who was murdered by the Traitors, actor Bella Ramsay who was murdered, and American singer Myha’la and actor Julie Hesmondhalgh who were also banished.

Rob Beckett Murdered, Hannah Fry Banished

At the end of last Friday's episode, the Traitors - Maya Jama, Rebecca Fry and James Acaster - were about to pick between four Faithfuls - Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan and Ross Kemp - to murder.

Little Mix star Leigh-Anne was given a key which granted her immunity, which meant it was either Rob, Romesh or Ross who were murdered face-to-face by the Traitors. The Traitors decided to murder Rob, breaking up the dynamic duo between him and Romesh that fans at home loved so much. Later on in the episode, the heat was applied yet again onto Hannah Fry, who ended up being the latest star to be banished.

Fan Reaction on X

Over on X, formerly Twitter, @BarbieFurtado wrote: "You were dealt the worst hand, Professor Hannah Fry, and never had a chance of a fair game! Can’t wait to see you back for the All Stars so you can finally use your spreadsheets"

@NoahKeate said: "I do feel sorry for Hannah Fry, who was punished for her intelligence. One benefit of the 'civilian' version is players have nothing to judge one another on *apart* from what happens during the game (except for those who are related/a couple, obviously)."

@justnonesencee added: "the faithfuls may have got hannah right but their ways and techniques of blaming people isn’t going to work in future. I don’t think they’ll catch another traitor for a while"

@GhausiaSpeaks said: "Hannah made a valid point, the flaw in the game is that anyone vocal or smart is a target for the traitors and the faithfuls. So the way to win is actually to pretend you’re being manipulated and not a threat, and then do a 180 right towards the final."

Elsewhere, fans were "gutted" to see Hannah leave. @DanLately wrote: "I'm gutted Hannah got banished I knew her days were numbered, but she was the only reason I became a first time Traitors viewer!"

The Celebrity Traitors airs on BBC and iPlayer at 8pm on Thursday and Friday evenings.
