Caoimhe Robinson faces an uncertain future after her husband Daniel Kinahan was extradited to Ireland to face a charge of directing a criminal organisation. The 49-year-old was flown back to Dublin on Sunday, and those close to the couple say the blonde is standing firmly by her partner as their lavish Dubai lifestyle hangs in the balance.
A History of Loyalty and Tragedy
This is not the first time her loyalty has been tested. Before her glamorous life with Kinahan, Caoimhe was married to gang boss Michael "The Panda" Kelly. Her world shattered in September 2011 when Kelly was gunned down in North Dublin. In a horrific attack, he was shot outside an apartment block, then shot a second time, and the killers drove over his body.
A weeping Caoimhe buried her first husband alongside his grieving mother during a short church service guarded by heavy Garda security, with fewer than 100 mourners present. At the service, parish priest Fr David Lumsden said: "This has been a horrific time for you as a family. And we know even to this day that there was a little gap to when he died but it is still a great shock to the family."
Meeting Kinahan and a New Life
Following the tragedy, Caoimhe eventually moved on, later crossing paths with Kinahan. She met the Dubliner during a trip to Spain in 2014, bonding over mutual acquaintances. A former Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) investigator recalled how she moved on after Kelly's death, telling The Sun: "She was very loyal to Kelly and any time he was arrested she would let people know that she would be there for him. Caoimhe was heartbroken when Kelly was killed but it wasn't long before she was determined to move on with her life."
The investigator added: "She was introduced to Kinahan because of the circles she moved in and also because Kelly and Kinahan were known to each other. She was ready to move on after Kelly's murder and the only person she has been with since the killing has been Kinahan. Robinson was very committed to Kinahan in the early part of their relationship and she has stood by him."
Life in Dubai and an Uncertain Future
The couple relocated from Spain to the United Arab Emirates with their children. In 2017, they married in a lavish ceremony at the €1,300-a-night Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai. The retired CAB officer said: "The reality is that she has proved her loyalty by becoming Daniel Kinahan's wife and also by moving to the UAE to be by his side. She has also become accustomed to a very wealthy lifestyle and there is nothing for her in Ireland anymore."
Unlike her husband, who faces active criminal charges, Caoimhe is not the target of any arrest warrants or sanctions and is not a fugitive. With Kinahan remanded in custody awaiting legal proceedings in Dublin, the couple faces an uncertain future.
