Mikey Graham has refused to reunite with his former Boyzone bandmates in the final scene of the Sky docuseries Boyzone: No Matter What. The show features never-before-seen footage of manager Louis Walsh and members Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and the late Stephen Gately, alongside interviews with those closest to the group.
During the series, the group spoke openly about the infighting that plagued them, particularly during their farewell tour in 2019. While Ronan, Keith and Shane were able to put aside their differences for a drink in the closing scenes, it proved too much for Mikey, who struggled with his mental health during the band's heyday.
Filmed sitting alone, Mikey explained: 'I wish them all the best, no grudges, no animosity, nothing. However, I don't want to go back to how I felt for many years. To see them, if it were for too long, would remind me of that.' He added: 'My future is far too important for me to waste it looking back at my past but I wish everybody well.'
Tensions flared during the final tour, with Ronan and Mikey irritated by Shane and Keith's party lifestyle. Ronan revealed: 'They had been out all day, drinking all day and it was messy.' Keith confessed: 'We'd certainly partied a little harder than we usually did - it was the end of the road.' The worst argument occurred between Keith and Mikey in their dressing room, with Keith refusing to elaborate, saying only: 'There were things that had happened that were cruel.'
Mikey described the environment as 'toxic' and said he 'just wanted to get out and get away'. The group finished the tour in separate dressing rooms and have not been the same since. Keith later said: 'One of my biggest regrets is how much I clashed with Mikey.' Mikey agreed, stating: 'It didn't have to be that way if we all had better skills at understanding each other better.'
Shane Lynch confessed he has not spoken to Mikey for four years, saying: 'I think there's an element of this industry that damaged him.' Now 52, Mikey lives a nomadic existence in rural Ireland, far removed from the glitz of his youth. He admitted: 'I just wanted out. My experience is very, very different from the other guys.'
