Becky Hill has taken aim at Jack Whitehall on her new album Rebecca, after the privately educated comedian branded her 'Wetherspoons Whitney' at the 2025 BRIT Awards. The Worcestershire-born singer, 32, explained how she 'let loose' on the record to address classism.
Jack Whitehall's Background
Jack, 37, who has hosted the BRITs six times, is the son of talent agent Michael Whitehall, 86, who has represented stars such as Dame Judi Dench, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Colin Firth. He was educated at the £60,000-a-year Marlborough College alongside Robert Pattinson and the future Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton. He reportedly worked for his father's former boss before launching his own showbiz career.
The Song and Its Message
Debuting the track at an intimate gig earlier this week, Hill told the audience: 'I've had enough of all this s*** so I wrote about it. This song, I'm affectionately calling Wetherspoons Whitney, but you lot will know it as Daddy's Range Rover. This one's for you, Jack.' The lyrics include: 'Just 'cause your daddy worked in showbiz, got you a job with his old boss. I bet you didn't even notice the opportunities you got.' She continues: 'You judge me on my accent before I even start, but you know nothing about me. What can I do? I'll never be like you.'
The Daily Mail has contacted Jack Whitehall's representatives for comment.
BRIT Awards Controversy
The comedian presented the awards show earlier this year, but viewers criticised him for 'punching down' and his 'painful posh boy schtick'. He hosted from Manchester's Co-op Live Arena, marking the awards' first year outside London. While his one-liners initially impressed, viewers soon turned on him for making digs at working-class audience members, including a joke about a suit made of low-quality material. He also addressed the BRITs moving to Manchester, calling the city the 'G spot of the North', and referenced Oasis reuniting as cameras focused on Noel Gallagher.
Becky Hill's Personal Life
Hill recently married her long-time love, Charlie Gardner, in an idyllic beach ceremony in Falmouth, Cornwall, in September 2025. The couple, engaged since January 2022, exchanged vows on the sand with guests including Ella Eyre and Gareth Gates. Hill wore a corseted gown with long gloves and a veil, but had to remove her shoes in the sand, while Charlie opted for trainers. She announced the news on social media with the caption: 'Turns out he actually does like me' followed by a diamond ring emoji. The couple have been together for 10 years, with Charlie working in events while staying out of the spotlight.
Hill previously spoke to The Daily Mail about finding travel abroad 'especially difficult' due to archaic attitudes towards her 'queerness', a term she reclaimed after declaring herself part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021.
Becky Hill's new album Rebecca is released on September 25 and is available for pre-order now.
