Bafta TV Awards viewers were left confused after Catherine O’Hara was not included in the In Memoriam segment. The actor, best known for her role as Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek, passed away in January 2026 at the age of 71. Her co-star Seth Rogen, with whom she worked on the Apple TV+ series The Studio, dedicated his award to her during the ceremony.
Viewer Reactions
Many viewers took to social media to express their confusion. One user described the omission as “a massive error,” while another asked, “Did I miss the tribute to Catherine O’Hara in that segment?” A third commented, “Where was the legend Catherine O’Hara in the tributes? They always do this. Miss someone out.”
Reason for Omission
The reason for O’Hara’s absence from the TV Baftas In Memoriam is that she had already been honoured at the film awards in February. Bafta typically includes a celebrity in one or the other. In February, when actors James Van Der Beek and Eric Dane were omitted from the film awards, Bafta stated: “We honour those within the sector in which their work was most closely associated. Our TV Awards take place later this spring.”
Seth Rogen’s Tribute
While accepting the Best International Award for The Studio, Rogen said: “She meant so much to all of us, I assume her work was as important to you all over here as it was to us so this is for Catherine.” O’Hara’s film credits include Beetlejuice, Home Alone, and Christopher Guest comedies such as A Mighty Wind and Best in Show.
Details of Her Death
When O’Hara’s death was announced in January, her manager cited a “brief illness.” The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office later stated that her immediate cause of death was a pulmonary embolism, with rectal cancer as the underlying cause. She was cremated, and her remains were given to her husband, Bo Welch.
Other Winners at the Bafta TV Awards
Netflix’s drama Adolescence was the big winner at the ceremony, taking home four awards, including Best Actor for Stephen Graham. Owen Cooper won Best Supporting Actor, and Christine Tremarco won Best Supporting Actress. Adolescence also won Limited Drama. The ceremony, held at London’s Royal Festival Hall, also saw wins for The Celebrity Traitors, including Memorable Moment for Alan Carr’s shock victory.
