Amanda Holden Reveals Embarrassing Surprise Party Story About Husband Chris
Amanda Holden Shares Embarrassing Husband Surprise Story

Amanda Holden has shared a humorous and embarrassing story about going behind her husband Chris Hughes' back to organise a surprise party for his 40th birthday. The 55-year-old Britain's Got Talent judge returned to Heart Radio Breakfast on Tuesday after attending Alan Carr's surprise 50th party over the weekend.

Amanda Reflects on Surprise Parties

Discussing the event with co-host Jamie Theakston, Amanda admitted she would love a surprise party herself but doubted anyone could pull it off because she "always knows everything." She then recounted her husband's reaction to his own surprise party.

"My poor husband Chris, when he was 40, absolutely begged for me to do nothing and I said we were going for afternoon tea at this beautiful hotel, and he walked in and it was an Airbnb and everybody was there," she told listeners.

When Jamie questioned why she went against his wishes, she joked: "Because I do that anyway that's my marriage ain't it, he says, 'No' and I go, 'Okay fine yes I'll do it'."

Embarrassing Moment at the Party

Amanda explained that she threw the party for Chris because he is the type who says he doesn't want a fuss but ends up enjoying it later. However, an embarrassing moment ensued when Chris discovered the surprise.

"He had all these people that he loved there and his best mate David Coulthard wasn't quite there, because he was coming later, and the first thing Chris said in his loud voice, not in his whisper voice, he said 'Is DC coming?'. And I said, 'Yes, later, but look at all these lovely people that are here for you'," she recalled.

More Red-Faced Moments

Amanda, who has been married to Chris since 2008, also shared another cringe-worthy experience. After a listener described being mistaken for Olly Murs at a Paris hotel, Amanda revealed her own similar incident.

"Not exactly mistaken identity, but I pinched the bottom of a man at a festival that I thought was my husband. Turns out he was just a random man in the same cap, he found it funny!" she said.

She added that her husband had an even more unpleasant encounter: "We were in Tesco doing our food shop, he was wearing his North Face puffer jacket, and he was looking in the fridge in Tesco. And this woman just came up to him and coughed in his back, just went [cough], like used his back as a... and he turned around and she just went, 'Oh my God, I thought you were my husband!' And we were both so grossed out, it was the most disgusting thing ever."
