Coronation Street actress Alison King, best known for playing Carla Connor on the ITV soap, has had a turbulent love life on screen. But what do we know about her real-life relationships?
Alison King's Relationship with Corrie Star
Alison previously dated former Coronation Street actor Philip Middlemiss, who played Des Barnes. They reportedly met at a Tenerife bar in March 1995. By November 1996, Philip told the Scottish Daily Record: "I've never been happier. She is a wonderful girl. I love her to death." However, by 2000, the couple had separated. According to IMDB, Philip admitted: "I was in love with Allie. She's the only person I've ever really loved. But she was working in London and I was in Manchester. In another life, if I had been a bus driver and she had worked at the local baker's shop, we would have got married and had kids by now."
Alison's Engagement and Daughter
Alison was also engaged to Adam Huckett, a Coronation Street sound technician, with whom she shares her daughter Daisy, now 17. They never married and separated in 2012. In 2009, Alison told Digital Spy about adapting to new motherhood: "Being a new mum runs over you like a steamroller at first. I was working quite hard up until the birth and then the birth resulted in an operation - I had to have an emergency C-section. Then it's just pure hard work and I never realised it would be this hard! The sleep deprivation is just exhausting but she's excellent and so funny now. She's worth everything." Alison also spoke of "immense guilt" as Daisy arrived on the same day her co-star Kym Marsh lost her baby boy in February 2009. Kym disclosed on BBC's Morning Live: "My friend Alison King, a really good friend of mine, gave birth to her daughter on the very same day I lost my son – literally hours apart. And the immense guilt that she felt at the fact she'd delivered her baby so safely and I'd lost my son was such a hard time for both of us."
Alison's Mystery Man and Age Gap Romance
In November 2018, Alison was photographed with a new 'mystery man', later confirmed as IT consultant David Stuckley, nine years her junior. They announced their engagement a year later. Alison told OK! magazine: "It was just a few days after our one-year anniversary. I had an inkling he was going to pop the question because he kept putting something on my finger and going, 'Right, close your eyes and forget this ever happened!' We'd also discussed marriage, too. I think we both went from 'No, we don't ever need to get married', to 'Oh, we really want to get married!'" However, in May 2022, it emerged the couple had separated after 'growing apart' during lockdown. Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
