British wrestler Benjamin Satterley, who performed as PAC in All Elite Wrestling, was found unresponsive in a vehicle outside a restaurant in Illinois and later pronounced dead, according to reports. The 40-year-old, originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, was discovered at around 4pm on Sunday (September 27), less than 24 hours after competing in what became his final match.
Found unresponsive outside restaurant
Medical officials reportedly found Satterley unresponsive in his car. Passers-by and diners were described as desperately seeking medical equipment in the restaurant before paramedics arrived to try and treat the performer, who was pronounced dead by medical professionals.
All Elite Wrestling announced Satterley's passing on Monday (September 28). The announcement came in the early hours of Monday morning UK time, merely 24 hours after his final contest.
AEW statement and tributes
A spokesperson said: "All Elite Wrestling is saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac."
"A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organizations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability."
"Pac signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2019 and held multiple AEW Championships and competed in some of the most memorable matches in AEW history. Our condolences go out to Satterley's family, friends and fans."
Career and recent loss
Satterley wrestled in the WWE from 2012 to 2018 under the ring name Adrian Neville before switching to AEW in 2019. Moving tributes have poured in beneath the statement shared on Instagram. One fan wrote: "Heartbreaking, thank you for all the memories for over a decade."
The cause of Satterley's death has not been revealed. AEW is also grieving the loss of fellow wrestler Andy "The Butcher" Williams, who died following a heart attack earlier in September. Pac's final X post was a tribute to Williams.
