Almost 3,000 people were killed 25 years ago today in the September 11, 2001 attacks, with millions around the globe still bearing the burden of that day to this day.
The events of 9/11 took place on a "brilliant, clear morning", with everyone embracing the start of what may have appeared to be an ordinary Tuesday in New York. At 8.46am, however, American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
At 9.03am, Flight 175 tore through the South Tower, forever changing the lives of millions of people across the globe.
