With Thomas Tuchel preparing to announce England's 26-man World Cup squad on Friday, several positions remain fiercely contested. While stars like Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice are virtually guaranteed starters, battles rage across the pitch as players vie for a spot on the plane to the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Full-Back Dilemmas
At full-back, Tuchel faces tough choices. Can he rely on Reece James to stay fit? Has Tino Livramento done enough to earn a place? On the left, breakout star Nico O'Reilly and Newcastle's Lewis Hall are both in contention.
Midfield Conundrum
Midfield is even more complex. Elliot Anderson has emerged as Tuchel's preferred No. 6, but Adam Wharton and Kobbie Mainoo remain strong options. Further forward, England boast an abundance of attacking talent, with Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, and Phil Foden competing for central roles behind Kane. Anthony Gordon and Marcus Rashford are battling for the left-wing spot.
