CNN's Harry Enten delivered a bombshell that is set to humiliate US President Donald Trump. The US launched strikes on Iran for the 11th consecutive night late on Tuesday, as Tehran warned the US against targeting its nuclear facilities. Iran and the US agreed a ceasefire in April, but hostilities resumed last week as both countries battled over control of the vital Strait of Hormuz waterway.
Polling data shows historic unpopularity
In another blow to Trump, it is apparent the US electorate do not support his latest attacks on the Middle Eastern country, as the latest polling results suggest. During Tuesday's coverage, CNN showed the latest poll data revealed Trump's Iran war net approval rating was minus 14 points in early March. As of now, their chief data analyst remarked: 'Look how far down we are now. Right into the Red Sea. Minus 40 points underwater, according to a Washington Post poll.'
Harry continued: 'I tried to find every poll that I possibly could. I believe this minus 40 points represents the least popular poll in terms of Trump's net approval rating on the Iran war the entire war so far. I said it at the beginning, it started off unpopular and now it's even more unpopular.' He concluded: 'Historically unpopular with 40 points underwater.'
US strikes continue
US Central Command (Centcom) said the wave of strikes were 'designed to continue degrading Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping' in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian state media reported that air defences were activated in the capital Tehran. Explosions were also reported in the north-western city of Tabriz, the south-eastern ports of Chabahar and Konarak, and in the southern city of Bushehr, home to Iran's only nuclear power plant. Iran, which has retaliated against the US and its Middle East allies, warned of reprisals after Donald Trump said the US would soon hit an underground nuclear site near Natanz.
