Arsenal Crowned Premier League Champions After 22-Year Wait With Win at Palace
Arsenal Win Premier League Title With Victory at Crystal Palace

Arsenal ended the Premier League season with a 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, celebrating their first league title in 22 years.

Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring in the 41st minute, and Noni Madueke doubled the lead three minutes after the interval. Jean-Philippe Mateta pulled one back late on, but Yeremy Pino's stoppage-time strike was ruled out for offside.

The Gunners avoided a final-day decider after Manchester City drew at Bournemouth on Tuesday. The coronation, which was Oliver Glasner's last home fixture as Palace boss, began with 1,000 Arsenal fans lining Holmesdale Road to greet the champions' coaches.

Arsenal co-owners Stan Kroenke and his son Josh attended the title-winning party, while 15 miles north, fans filled pubs surrounding the Emirates Stadium, some queuing since 9am to celebrate the club's first league trophy since Arsene Wenger's 'Invincibles' in 2004.

The day was also record-breaking for Max Dowman. The 16-year-old, absent from training this week to complete his GCSEs, became the youngest player to start a Premier League match at 16 years and 144 days, surpassing Jose Baxter's 18-year record by 54 days. He also became the youngest Premier League winner, ending Phil Foden's reign.

Mikel Arteta, now Arsenal manager, lined up alongside Baxter when he made his first start for David Moyes in 2008. Foden was six days short of his 18th birthday when he won the league with City in 2017-2018.
