A skydiver crashed into the scoreboard at Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium on Saturday, moments before the university's spring football game was due to start. The incident caused a delay to the match as emergency services worked to rescue the individual.
Virginia Tech officials confirmed on X that the skydiver had been safely secured and was in a stable condition following the rescue operation. Video footage showed the parachute lodged between the 'C' and 'H' of the Virginia Tech lettering atop the scoreboard.
In a statement, university officials expressed their gratitude to first responders, event staff and medical personnel for their swift, coordinated and professional response. The Blacksburg Fire Department has not yet commented on the incident.
