Ric Flair Barred from WrestleMania Over Violent Threat to Rookie Wrestler
Wrestling icon Ric Flair has disclosed that he was prohibited from attending WrestleMania 42 after issuing a violent threat against a rookie wrestler who taunted his daughter over her divorces. The explosive revelation came during Flair's appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show this Wednesday, where he detailed his feud with Ludwig Kaiser, whose real name is Marcel Barthel.
The Incident That Sparked the Ban
Flair, now 77 years old, explained that the conflict ignited approximately one year ago when Kaiser, then 34, brutally mocked Flair's daughter Ashley, known in WWE as Charlotte Flair, during a segment with his then-girlfriend Tiffany Stratton. The remarks targeted Ashley's three real-life divorces, intensifying an onscreen rivalry between her and Stratton ahead of WrestleMania 41.
'I didn't get invited to WrestleMania this year,' Flair told Helwani regarding last weekend's premier WWE event. 'I threatened to beat up Tiffany Stratton's husband. A 24-year-old kid being threatened by a 76-year-old man - and I can't go to WrestleMania? Are you kidding me?' Flair inaccurately stated Kaiser's age, as the German star was actually 34 at the time of the incident.
Flair's Direct Threat and Its Consequences
Flair claimed that Kaiser implied he wouldn't 'bum one' off Ashley, prompting the wrestling legend to obtain Kaiser's phone number. 'I called him. I said, "Hey, when I see you, I'm gonna beat the s*** out of you." He went like a little b****, told Hunter [Hearst Helmsley, WWE Chief Content Officer] and I wasn't allowed to go,' Flair recounted, alleging that Kaiser reported the threat to WWE management, leading to his ban from the event.
He further dismissed Kaiser's career prospects, predicting the wrestler would soon become a 'fly on the wall' in the industry. 'He's gonna really go far in the business,' Flair sarcastically remarked. 'A 76-year-old man telling a 24-year-old kid he's gonna kick his a**, and where is he now? Is he even on the roster?' Flair concluded by branding Kaiser a 'little punk'.
Flair's Health Battle Amid the Feud
During the time of this dispute, Flair was undergoing a serious battle with skin cancer. In June, he announced he was fighting the disease for a second time, later canceling a meet-and-greet in Mississippi. By the end of the month, Flair shared that surgery was imminent, posting a photo of his stomach with sutures from previous treatments and asking for prayers.
Fortunately, three weeks later, Flair returned to social media to confirm the operation was successful, declaring himself cancer-free. He posted a photo with bandages on his forehead and left arm from Academic Alliance In Dermatology, writing: 'Thank You Academic Alliance In Dermatology! I’m Now Cancer Free! WOOOOO!'
