NHS Forth Valley is seeking three new non-executive members for its Board, with appointments to be made by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care. The roles are described as “rewarding and influential appointments” that offer a chance to help shape healthcare delivery across the area and ensure the Board continues to provide safe, effective and person-centred services.
Role and responsibilities
Neena Mahal, Chair of NHS Forth Valley, said: “This is an important opportunity to join the Board at a time of significant change for healthcare and wider public services across Scotland as the Programme for Government sets out plans to replace the current 14 territorial Health Boards with two new Strategic Health Boards.”
Non-Executive Board members will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and staff, playing a key role in setting strategic direction, monitoring performance, managing risk, and engaging with staff, partner organisations and stakeholders. They must be able to think strategically and creatively, hold independent views, embody NHS Scotland’s values, and challenge constructively.

The appointments are remunerated and require a minimum commitment of an average of eight hours per week, including participation in Board meetings, governance committees, and the Integration Joint Boards of the two local Health and Social Care Partnerships.
An online information session, hosted by the Chair and Chief Executive, will take place between 6pm and 7.15pm on Wednesday, October 7. Registration is available on the NHS Forth Valley website, and attendees will receive an MS Teams invite.
