As one of the Daily Mail's millions of valued readers, we understand that you rely on us to keep you informed about global events. However, in today's increasingly crowded media landscape, finding our breaking news and exclusives among the vast amount of online content can be challenging.
Fortunately, Google has expanded the rollout of its 'Preferred Sources' feature globally, enabling you to see more content from the Daily Mail. We encourage readers to activate this feature, which takes just a few seconds, following our transition to the new global domain DailyMail.com in April.
How It Works
Once you select the Daily Mail as one of your Preferred Sources, our articles will appear more frequently in the 'Top Stories' section when you search for a topic. Additionally, a dedicated 'From Your Sources' section will appear underneath the Top Stories on the search results page. You will still see content from other websites and can manage your selections at any time—this simply ensures the Daily Mail is more prominent in your search results.
The Preferred Sources feature launched in the US last August, expanded to all English-language users in December, and became available in all supported languages last month.
Step-by-Step Guide
Follow these instructions to set up the Daily Mail as one of your Preferred Sources:
- Ensure you're signed into your Google account.
- Open a Google search on your computer and type in a news-related query, such as 'King Charles'.
- Scroll down to find the 'Top Stories' section containing news articles on the subject.
- Next to the 'Top Stories' subheading, click the star icon.
- A new screen will appear, allowing you to choose your Preferred Sources.
- Type 'dailymail.com' in the search bar and click the checkbox on the right.
- At the bottom of the screen, click or tap 'Reload results'.
Now, when you search for a news-related query on Google, you'll be shown the Daily Mail's stories prominently.
