James Holt, the former executive director of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell Foundation, has announced a significant career move: he will become Political Director for the Liberal Democrats in the UK next month. Holt, who began working with Harry in 2019 and stepped down from Archewell in December 2025, shared the news in a LinkedIn post, describing the opportunity as "coming home in more ways than one."
Holt's New Role and Concerns About Political Discourse
Holt expressed concern about the current political climate, stating: "As I watch the political landscape in the US and the UK splinter into further extremes and aggression, it's time to jump back in." His appointment comes just weeks before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are scheduled to travel to Britain next month for events marking one year until the 2027 Invictus Games. Security arrangements for their visit have not yet been confirmed.
Continued Ties to the Sussexes
Although Holt no longer works for the Sussexes, it is understood that he has been providing consulting services to the couple until this week. Upon leaving Archewell, Holt spoke warmly of his time with them, telling GB News: "Working with Prince Harry and Meghan has been one of the great privileges of my career." Meghan and Harry are expected to travel to the UK with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
