A social media influencer has died six days after being struck by a car outside a nightclub in central London, police have confirmed. Klaudia Zakrzewska, 32, was hit in Argyll Street, Soho, at about 4.30am on 19 April and was pronounced dead on Saturday.
The incident also left a 58-year-old man with life-changing injuries. Gabrielle Carrington, 29, a former X Factor finalist, appeared in court on Tuesday accused of attempting to kill Zakrzewska outside the Inca nightclub. The Metropolitan Police said the attempted murder charge will be upgraded to murder following her death.
Carrington, of Broadfield Road, Manchester, is also accused of dangerous driving, being nearly twice the drink-drive limit, and causing injuries to two other people – a third woman and a security guard – who were allegedly hit by her Mercedes. She appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 21 April and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 19 May.
Zakrzewska, from Essex, was known on TikTok and Instagram as Klaudiaglam. A GoFundMe page, said to be set up by her mother Kinga, raised nearly £18,000 for her treatment and legal fees. Her mother wrote: 'Those who know me understand how much I love my daughter and what a special bond we have, and I cannot give up on my baby girl.'
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, leading the investigation, expressed deepest sympathies to Zakrzewska's family and urged the public to refrain from speculation and sharing graphic footage, warning it could prejudice court proceedings.
