Coca-Cola has been named the official soft drink partner for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, marking the return of the event to Scotland for the first time since 2014. The partnership involves The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP), who will provide Coca-Cola zero sugar, Powerade, and Smartwater as the official soft drink, sports drink, and water providers, respectively.
Phil Batty OBE, CEO of Glasgow 2026, welcomed the collaboration, highlighting Coca-Cola's experience in enhancing spectator experiences and promoting sustainability. He noted that the brand's commitment to a greener Games aligns with Glasgow 2026's ambitions. The Games are scheduled from 23 July to 2 August 2026 across four venues in Glasgow, featuring 3,000 athletes from 74 nations competing in ten sports and six Para sports.
Stephen Moorhouse, General Manager at CCEP GB, expressed enthusiasm for supporting the Games, citing the company's strong local roots through its East Kilbride facility, which has been manufacturing in Scotland for over 60 years. Seamus Kerrigan, Site Director at the East Kilbride plant, emphasised the importance of sustainability and community support in the partnership.
Jon Doig OBE, Chief Executive of Team Scotland, praised Coca-Cola's commitment to communities, sustainability, and local manufacturing, stating that these values reflect those championed by Team Scotland athletes. Scottish athlete Eilidh Gorrell, who represented Team Scotland at Birmingham 2022, joined the announcement tour at the East Kilbride facility.
