Vet Reveals Top 5 Most Overused Dog Names and Urges Creativity
Vet Lists 5 Overused Dog Names: Roxy, Luna, Milo, Cooper, Bella

While you may think your pet’s name perfectly matches their unique personality, vets might disagree. That’s exactly the message one vet shared after revealing the dog names he’s tired of hearing over and over again at work.

In a light-hearted TikTok video, Vet Amir Anwary, who is known online as @amirthevet, listed the five dog names he believes are seriously overused. He joked that owners should think twice before choosing them, as there are probably already several pets nearby with the exact same name. Counting them down, he revealed that Roxy was the fifth most common name at his practice, followed by Luna, Milo, Cooper and, finally, Bella taking the top spot.

While some viewers found the video hilarious, others quickly admitted they were guilty of using one of the names themselves. One user commented: “I have a Cooper and Bella, but the meaning behind how they got their names is what makes them creative and different.” Another added: “Bet you never hear my pets’ names - Willis, Wilbur and Wabbles. I also have an a**hole cat, but his name is Witt.”

A third user said: “Bro, my dog is named Cooper and my other dog is named Casper. I named him Casper because he’s very friendly and playful.” One more admitted: “I’m generic. Luna for my white Pomeranian and Sol for my dilute calico.”

Others defended popular pet names, arguing there’s a reason they’re so common in the first place - because they suit dogs perfectly. Still, plenty of users joked they suddenly felt personally attacked after hearing their dog’s name make the list.

It comes after another vet shared the names they hear time and time again, saying on Reddit: "I personally am overwhelmed by the names Luna and Teddy. Every single poodle cross I come across seems to be named Teddy." In reacting to her post, another user remarked: "Duke, though that's a personal one. I lost my Duke almost four years ago and just hearing the name still makes me tear up because I miss him so much. He was the best boy ever and his death was sudden, very tragic and absolutely horrifying."

They shared a poignant account, detailing: "He and I both were attacked on our front porch by an off leash German Shepherd. Duke was a few weeks away from his 14th birthday and developed a pulmonary embolism from his injuries he couldn't survive."
