Former Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has accused New York GOP Representative Mike Lawler of secretly hating President Donald Trump and mocking him behind his back. Greene, who left Congress in January but remains influential among conservatives, made the claims during an appearance on The Tucker Carlson Show on Wednesday.
Greene described Lawler as a 'bought and paid for' politician, alleging that he used to attack her for supporting Trump and would mimic the president's voice. 'He clearly hates Donald Trump,' she said, adding that Lawler's attitude changed dramatically after Trump won the 2024 Republican primary, prompting her to jokingly call him 'MAGA Mike Lawler.'
In response, a spokesman for Lawler dismissed Greene's remarks, calling her 'one of the dumbest people to ever serve in Congress.' The spokesman stated that Lawler has voted for Trump three times and has always been true to his beliefs, adding: 'Marjorie can go sit and spin, as she goes down in history as one of the least liked and most ignorant members to ever serve.'
Lawler also attacked Carlson on X, calling him 'a moron' and accusing him of 'dumbing down America.' Both Greene and Carlson have recently turned against Trump, with Greene claiming the president has 'gone insane' and Carlson apologising for campaigning for him in 2024.
