Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh found themselves in a tense on-air clash with Reform UK MP Richard Tice during Friday's Good Morning Britain. The discussion centred on Nigel Farage's decision not to attend the Clacton by-election result declaration in person, after the party claimed police had advised against it.
Security Concerns Over Farage's Absence
Ranvir asked Tice: "Can you tell us what it is that Essex Police told Reform UK about what the issue might have been for Nigel Farage at the Clacton count overnight, and why he had to stay away?"
Tice replied: "He stayed away because his security team were concerned about the ability to keep him safe and secure, and their job, and their judgement, and our trust in them, is much greater, in the nicest possible way, than it is in anybody else giving advice."
Ranvir pressed: "So, you're saying that Essex police didn't tell Nigel Farage to stay away?" Kate added: "So, presumably, there was then a conversation with security advisors. What we understand, and we've been told, is that Essex police didn't tell anybody not to go. So, I guess we're trying to work out what's in the mind and the level of concern of those around him, aren't we, and where the information came from."
'You're Wasting This Interview'
A frustrated Tice responded: "Seriously, I think you need to get a grip. I'm talking about Nigel's safety and security and remaining alive, and you're playing on words by different people who might be giving advice."
He added: "I just gently repeat...," before Ranvir interjected: "Sorry, sorry, just to be clear. Sorry, I mean, we can move on." The hosts noted that a Reform UK spokesperson had told reporters that Essex police had advised Farage to stay away due to a "credible threat", prompting their attempts to clarify.
Tice fumed: "You're wasting this interview, right, on a matter which is less relevant than the result." Kate countered: "I feel the safety of Nigel Farage is relevant and understanding why he didn't come is relevant." Tice concluded: "Honestly, I find it astonishing that you're questioning the judgement of our security team."

The interview sparked complaints on social media, while others praised the hosts for their questioning. The by-election saw Farage secure 22,239 votes, with Count Binface second on 9,455 votes.
