Right-wing television host Sara Gonzales was ejected from a town hall event held by Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett in Texas on Thursday, after hurling insults at the congresswoman. Gonzales, who works for Glenn Beck’s Blaze TV, stood up while Crockett was speaking about her grandmother and shouted, calling her a “fake ghetto hoodrat”.
Gonzales also accused Crockett of being a “rich kid from Missouri”, a reference to the representative’s birthplace. The heckling drew an angry response from audience members, who pushed Gonzales as security escorted her out. A woman shouted at her to leave, and a man ordered her out repeatedly.
Outside the venue, Gonzales asked police officers sarcastically if they were proud, and they threatened to arrest her if she did not leave. She later posted a video of the incident on social media, captioning it: “I confronted Jasmine Crockett at a townhall for being a fake hoodrat.”
Another woman at the event also protested Crockett, shouting: “Why do you hate white people? Why are you racist towards white people?” The incident followed a pattern of disruptions at political town halls, including one held by Republican Representative Mike Flood.
Crockett, born in St Louis, Missouri, attended universities in Tennessee and Texas before working as a public defender in Bowie County, Texas, and later entering politics. Gonzales hosts the Blaze TV programme Sara Gonzales Unfiltered, which describes itself as offering a no-holds-barred take on news and culture.
