Harper Beckham, the 14-year-old daughter of Sir David and Victoria Beckham, has encountered a hurdle in her plans to launch a beauty brand after the US Patent and Trademark Office rejected her application to trademark the name 'Hiku By Harper'. The decision, as reported by The Sun, blocks the name in the United States because 'Harper' is already licenced for brooms and scrubbing brushes, while 'Hiku' has been registered by a company selling fragrance and toiletry products.
Despite the US rejection, the trademark has been approved in the UK. Harper intends to launch a skincare and beauty line targeting young consumers, drawing inspiration from Korean beauty products and pop culture. A source told The Sun that Harper, who already creates make-up tutorials, is being encouraged by her parents to explore her entrepreneurial interests.
The news comes after Victoria Beckham discussed 'Brand Beckham' on a podcast, stating that the family's business ventures evolved organically. She also addressed challenges of raising children in the public eye, though she did not directly comment on the trademark issue.
