Pep Guardiola is leaving Manchester City but will remain with the City Football Group (CFG) as a global ambassador. The Catalan manager will step down at the Etihad but continue to provide technical advice to CFG clubs such as Palermo, Lommel, and Troyes, working on specific projects and collaborations.
Guardiola has previously expressed interest in international management, with major tournaments in England (2028) and Spain (2030) on the horizon. However, his immediate role after leaving City will be with CFG.
CFG CEO Ferran Soriano said: 'We have been privileged to work alongside Pep Guardiola for ten years. We have witnessed his greatness and dedication, but also enjoyed his companionship, his friendship and humanity.' Soriano added that Guardiola's legacy is extraordinary and his high standards will be a reference for future players and managers.
Soriano also noted: 'If there is something more difficult than winning, it is winning again. It requires incredible persistence, resilience and the humility to start again every year... This is what Pep did.' He highlighted that Guardiola won 20 trophies in a decade, playing entertaining football of high quality.
'As we celebrate the past, we are also very happy to know that Pep will stay with the group and we will be able to use his knowledge and experience in so many of our other clubs to help managers and players,' Soriano concluded.
