The Green party is on the verge of overtaking Labour’s membership numbers after Labour saw a 20% decline in 2025, according to its latest accounts.

Labour’s return shows its membership fell from 333,235 to 264,754 by the end of 2025, compared with a year earlier.

In May, the Green party said its membership stood at 230,000, putting it within 34,000 members of Labour.

A spokesperson said figures had “quadrupled” in the last year since Zack Polanski became leader. The Green party’s membership was 186,441 at the end of December.
