Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has sparked a viral row after joking about US President Donald Trump's alleged bowel problems. The quip came in response to Trump's crude insult that El-Sayed is "full of s***."
Feud Erupts After Primary Win
The feud began after El-Sayed, a progressive "democratic socialist" and public health physician, won the Michigan Democratic primary. Shortly after, Trump launched a series of personal attacks during a speech in Las Vegas, calling El-Sayed a "man of hate" and accusing him of antisemitism over his criticism of the Israeli government.
Trump also declared: "When I watch Abdul, he's full of s***."
El-Sayed's Sharp Retort
Asked about the remark in an interview with Sky News correspondent James Matthews, El-Sayed delivered a tongue-in-cheek response that has since gone viral. "At least I don't let mine go in the middle of the Oval Office," he replied with a grin.
The comment referenced long-running, unverified online jokes and memes suggesting Trump wears adult nappies and has had accidents in the White House. These claims have never been substantiated but continue to circulate as internet satire.

El-Sayed has become one of the biggest names in America's 2026 midterm elections after his shock primary win. He supports Medicare for All, a universal healthcare plan often compared to state-backed systems like the NHS. He also advocates tougher corporate regulation, including heavier taxation and anti-monopoly action, plus aggressive climate measures.
If the 41-year-old son of Egyptian immigrants beats Trump-backed Republican Mike Rogers in November 2026, he would become the first Muslim US Senator in history. That has also made him a target among some right-wing figures.
