Dana White, the president and CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has stated that politics rarely enters into his long-standing friendship with President Donald Trump. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, White explained that their conversations typically revolve around personal topics such as family and well-being, rather than political matters.
Support at the 2016 RNC
White recalled speaking at the 2016 Republican National Convention despite advice to the contrary. He cited Trump's crucial support for the UFC during its formative years as a reason for his decision. White maintains that their relationship is a normal, non-transactional friendship, asserting that he does not seek any favors from Trump.
UFC Event at the White House
The UFC is planning an event at the White House on Trump's birthday, which White insists is not intended to be political. He emphasized that the event is simply a celebration and not a political statement.
White also mentioned that he told Trump, who he described as 'very religious,' to quit after the assassination attempt. However, the details of this conversation were not elaborated upon in the interview.
