The second season of The Celebrity Traitors has assembled one of the most high-profile casts ever seen on a UK reality show, with actors, comedians and fashion icons set to compete in the BBC hit. Filming is under way at the show's Highlands retreat, with the lineup announced as production began.
Among the contestants are Richard E Grant, Michael Sheen, Jerry Hall, Bella Ramsey, Miranda Hart, Romesh Ranganathan, James Acaster and Alan Carr. The show's producer Stephen Lambert said most celebrities signed up because they are fans of the format, with many citing personal reasons such as wanting to show a different side of themselves or being dared by family.
Former BBC One controller Peter Fincham described it as 'the most impressive lineup ever recruited for a reality show in the UK', noting that producers could now approach stars who would normally be considered unattainable. The BBC's Fiona Campbell added that some celebrities had proactively approached the show given its popularity.
TV insiders pointed to the show's advantages: intense but short filming, no gruelling physical demands, and a lack of embarrassment factor. The show's casting director has received many approaches from agents, though Lambert emphasised that the perfect cast is about diversity of personalities, not just fame.
