Andy Burnham has made Ed Miliband Foreign Secretary, a move that risks the UK's relationship with the United States. Miliband once branded Donald Trump a "racist, misogynistic, self-confessed groper".
Cabinet reshuffle raises eyebrows
Britain's Cabinet removals service had another busy day as Burnham, in his first act as Prime Minister, handed key jobs to controversial figures. Miliband, who lost the 2015 general election to David Cameron, is now the nation's top diplomat.
White House sources have described his appointment as "deeply concerning". Miliband is known for his strong environmental views, having championed net zero and wind turbines.
Burnham also appointed John Healey as Chancellor, despite Healey having resigned over a defence plan with a £5billion hole. Yvette Cooper has held three top jobs in two years: Home, Foreign, and now Health.
Rachel Reeves declined the Education Secretary role and moved to the backbenches. Burnham has promised "the biggest changes in 40 years", but critics say it is just a reshuffle of the same faces.
