Aaron Rodgers has unleashed a blistering critique of Donald Trump, condemning the United States President's approach to the Epstein Files and claiming that politics is a "total sham."
The new NFL season, which will mark the final campaign of Rodgers' career, has started. However, with the new season approaching for Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the 42-year-old has dominated headlines after joining Steelers team-mate Cam Heyward on his podcast, 'Not Just Football with Cam Heyward.'
Rodgers' interview was divided into two segments, the first exploring his decision to return for the 2026 season. The second instalment, released today, saw Rodgers deliver withering assessments on multiple subjects, including the current state of the US political system.
Rodgers attacks 'uniparty' government
During the interview, the Super Bowl-winning future Hall of Fame quarterback launched a scathing attack on the administrations of Trump, Barack Obama and Joe Biden, labelling the American government a "uniparty," while declaring his distrust of everyone in politics.
"You shouldn't trust the government," Rodgers told Heyward. "The government's a uniparty. Like I was saying, they want to paint me - the left didn't like me because I played golf with Obama, and then they think because I'm anti-vax that I'm a right-wing conspiracy theorist Trumper."
"I'm like, first of all, I don't trust anyone in politics... maybe Ron Paul." He then turned his fire on the administrations of both Trump and Obama, reserving particularly sharp criticism for the former over pledges to "go after the swamp" and fully release the Epstein Files without retractions.
Criticism of Trump's campaign promises
"They don't give a f*** about regular people; they just keep doing the same policies," Rodgers continued.
"Everybody was cheering on ICE when Obama was in office... then Trump gets into office, and they're all racists... Trump gets into office, and he's running on all these policies: he's going to go after the swamp, go into Fort Knox, cut the vaccine stuff, avoid foreign wars, and end the Ukraine stuff. And transparency in the Epstein files!"
He subsequently set his sights on FBI Director Kash Patel, whom he bluntly dismissed as a moron.
Rodgers: 'No MAGA movement'
Rodgers said: "I was actually excited because, you know, the moron Kash Patel goes on Joe Rogan - which I watch a lot because I like Joe and Joe's a friend - and he says, 'Day one, we're going in, and we're opening up the Epstein files.' There's been nothing but the obstruction of transparency with this entire administration.
"Anybody that even liked Trump or thought that things would change - like, this is a pro-Israel-first administration. And when you dig into it, that's the uni-party. How many members of Congress are sponsored by AIPAC?
"There is no MAGA movement; there is no Make America Great Again movement, because the guy you elected hasn't kept any of his campaign promises."
Rodgers went on to say: "This is a big psy-op. The whole thing. Politics is a crazy psy-op. If voting actually mattered, they wouldn't let you do it. That's the truth of it."
Farewell tour begins Sunday
The new NFL season started with the New England Patriots suffering a 13-10 defeat away to the Seattle Seahawks in the 2026 opener in what was a rematch of this year's Super Bowl. It was a match that witnessed Drake Maye throw three fourth-quarter interceptions as the Seahawks got revenge for losing the Super Bowl.
This Sunday, Rodgers will embark on his farewell tour with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who host the Atlanta Falcons at Acrisure Stadium. The four-time NFL MVP opted to return for the 2026 season following the franchise's appointment of Mike McCarthy as Mike Tomlin's replacement, reuniting Rodgers with his former head coach, alongside whom he spent 13 seasons in Green Bay.
