A one-off special episode of The Yorkshire Vet, titled 'Night Shift', will air tonight on Channel 5 at 8pm. The programme follows vets Peter Wright and Julian Norton as they treat animals at their North Yorkshire practices, but this instalment focuses on the overnight team at a Huddersfield veterinary surgery.
Cases featured include a spaniel with severe injuries from a forest walk, a cat injured in a nocturnal fight, and a challenging lambing emergency for farm vet David Melleney. Julian also assists volunteers in Thirsk who are protecting ducks that walk from the riverbank to the town centre each night.
Peter Wright, a beloved star of the series, no longer works night shifts, so his appearance in this episode is limited. However, he is set to appear at the Great Yorkshire Show in July, alongside other farming personalities, to share insights from his recent filming trip to India.
