The Yorkshire Vet Returns with Night Shift Special Tonight on Channel 5
Yorkshire Vet Night Shift Special Airs Tonight on C5

The beloved Channel 5 documentary series The Yorkshire Vet is returning to screens with a special one-off episode titled Night Shift, airing tonight (Thursday, May 14) at 8pm.

What to Expect in the Night Shift Special

Since 2015, the series has followed veterinarians Peter Wright and Julian Norton as they care for animals at their practices in North Yorkshire. This special episode shifts focus to the night shift team at Huddersfield vets, showcasing the challenges and dedication required during late hours.

Cases featured include a spaniel with a severe injury after a freak accident during a woodland walk, and an aggressive fighting cat brought in after a late-night scrap. Julian Norton also assists a group of volunteers in Thirsk protecting ducks that nightly journey from the riverbank to the busy town centre. Meanwhile, farm vet David Melleney is urgently called out to assist with a difficult lambing.

Fan Reactions and Social Media Buzz

The official Yorkshire Vet Instagram page promoted the episode, writing: "Don't forget it's our special episode 'Night Shift' tonight. There are lots of injured and poorly pets for the vets to save, a 2am caesarean on a cocker spaniel and David dragged away from the warmth of his home for a middle-of-the-night lambing. And, as well as trying to work out what's upset a dog's stomach, Matt's wondering what kind of late-night takeaway to put in his own! Hope you can join us on C5 at 8pm for drama, devotion and duck tails."

Fans expressed excitement in the comments, with one writing: "Can't wait," alongside a heart emoji. Another added: "Looking forward to it," while a third said: "Can't wait for this."

Peter Wright's Upcoming Appearance

Fan-favourite Peter Wright does not work night shifts anymore, so he won't be heavily featured in tonight's episode. However, he is set to appear at this year's Great Yorkshire Show in July, alongside other farming stars including Kelvin and Liz Fletcher, Escape to the Country's Jules Hudson, and Clarkson's Farm star Harriet Cowan. Peter will share insights from his recent filming with The Yorkshire Vet in India.

Peter said: "The Great Yorkshire Show celebrates everything that the countryside has to offer from the very best livestock in the country, the best food and much, much more. There is something for everyone but don't just take my word for it, come and join me and see for yourself at the 167th Great Yorkshire Show."

Tune in to Channel 5 tonight at 8pm for The Yorkshire Vet: Night Shift, a night of drama, devotion, and heartwarming animal rescues.
