GB News interrupted for breaking migrant alert – the British taxpayer will be furious

GB News was interrupted on Wednesday as a breaking alert was issued regarding the ongoing migrant crisis in the UK. Martin Daubney delivered the news that British taxpayers spent a record £28.4 million helping non-English speakers in court in 2025.

Record spending on translators

This was spent on translators to help defendants, witnesses and victims who could not speak English in court, many of whom arrived in the UK illegally via small boat.

Chairman of Migration Watch UK Alp Mehmet discussed the statistics, claiming the figure is "unfair" for the taxpayer who has no choice in what they pay for.

Alp Mehmet's reaction

He said: "The lifetime costs of someone crossing illegally from France is something like £400,000 a year. It takes over £40,000 a year to maintain someone who's just arrived."

He added: "The poor old British taxpayer has no say in it, I'm afraid. How much can he or she put up with? I'm afraid, as much as it takes because they're never going to be asked."

"If they were asked, they would say, 'I don't want to pay anything.' Does any politician ever take account of that?"
