GB News halted its regular programming on Saturday (12 September) as President Donald Trump touched down in Dublin for a diplomatic visit. In a breaking update, the programme cut to footage of the US President descending the steps of Air Force One.
Presenter Bev Turner remarked that Trump, 80, had likely had little to no sleep on the flight over, and said there would be a lot of "heightened security" on the trip.
Fresh Health Concerns at 9/11 Service
Trump's arrival in Ireland came a matter of hours after he sparked fresh health concerns at a 9/11 memorial service. Joined by his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, on Friday, the couple headed to the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia.
On hand to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks, the 80-year-old fuelled further speculation about his health after images from the service were released. In them, the right side of Trump's face appeared to droop, sparking significant discussion online.
Medical and Political Reactions
Dr Nick Mark, a pulmonary and critical care physician, weighed in on X, tweeting: "That's a facial droop." In the comments, several of his followers agreed. "Can anybody pinpoint when the lip droop started? I have noticed it before, but it's looking worse," noted one. "Oh yeah, he's had a stroke. That's a telltale sign," added another. Meanwhile, a third mused, "Trump is not well, and the Republicans are hiding it."
Trump, who is one of the oldest people ever sworn in as US President, has been accused of falling asleep in meetings and at high-profile events, and he's also been spotted with bruising on his hands and swollen ankles in the past. Alongside his physical well-being, Trump's cognitive abilities have also been questioned.
Governor Pritzker's Criticism
Earlier this week, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker hit back at Trump's claims that he was pulled to safety by firefighters on 9/11. "He's a persistent liar and a narcissist, and honestly, suffering from dementia," Pritzker said on MS Now. "We've seen that over and over again. Just compare how he was when he ran in 2015. You could disagree with him back then, but he didn't sound truly out of his mind. Now he does, and of course, he's making this [9/11 claim] up.
"This absolutely is untrue. He's hoping that the American public is going to somehow see whatever picture he's painting now, but not reality. And I can tell you that I think the American public can see now when they go to the grocery store, when they go to fill up their gas tank, when they're going to fill up the tractor at the farm. They can see that Donald Trump has been bad for them, and they want something different."
