Guardian Corrects Palestine Action Hunger Strike Letter Signatory Figures
Correction: Palestine Action Hunger Strike Letter Signatories

The Guardian newspaper has published a correction regarding the number of signatories on letters concerning Palestine Action activists currently on hunger strike.

Clarification on Letter Signatories

The correction addresses a specific point in an opinion piece about the Palestine Action hunger strikers. The article had originally stated that a letter sent to Shadow Foreign Secretary David Lammy on 27 November, which warned of a "medical emergency" facing the prisoners, was signed by more than 800 medical professionals.

This figure was inaccurate. The newspaper now clarifies that the November letter was in fact signed by more than 100 medical professionals.

Second Letter Sent in December

The higher figure of more than 800 signatories relates to a separate, second letter. This subsequent letter was sent on 17 December and was signed by a coalition of medical and legal experts, alongside other supporters.

The original opinion piece, titled "If these hunger strikers die, the government will be responsible", was published in the Journal section on 7 January.

The corrections column also listed several other articles that have been recently amended by the publication. These include pieces covering:
