Two teenagers filming a TikTok video on a beach in West Seattle stumbled upon human remains last month, leading to a homicide investigation. The victims have been identified as Jessica Lewis, 35, and her boyfriend, Austin Wenner, 27. Both were shot dead, and their bodies were placed in bags and dumped.
The discovery occurred on 19 June when the teens, who had been directed to the beach by a random adventure app, noticed a black suitcase. One girl opened it with a stick and reported a terrible smell. They immediately alerted police, who later found a second bag of remains in the water.
Seattle Police Detective Mark Jamieson confirmed the teens' video, posted on TikTok, helped corroborate details. 'The kids found bag on beach, it smelled, they called 911... Officers got out there in about an hour-and-a-half, and then officers did further investigation and then discovered that it was probably remains,' he told CNN.
The bodies are believed to have been in the bags for several days before being found. Gina Jaschke, Ms Lewis's aunt, urged anyone with information to come forward, saying, 'They were just nice normal people. Nobody deserves what happened to them.' Police have appealed for public assistance in the case.
