The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Enzo Bettamio, 18, of no fixed address, was extradited on a flight from Dubai to the UK on Friday, following collaborative efforts between the force and specialist lawyers from the Crown Prosecution Service’s extradition and international units.

Bettamio was formally charged with Thiamphanit’s murder on Saturday and appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court. He spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth, and was remanded into custody, scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday. No plea was entered.

The Metropolitan Police added that Thiamphanit’s family have been informed of the development and continue to receive support from specialist officers.

DCI Alison Foxwell, leading the investigation, expressed her gratitude: “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Angela’s family and friends for their patience and unwavering support throughout this incredibly difficult and distressing time.”

Thiamphanit, who held dual Chinese-Hong Kong and Thai nationality and worked in property management, had been residing in the UK for approximately nine years.
