Prince Harry intends to pursue his legal battle over security arrangements in the United Kingdom, with hopes of making more family trips to his home country, according to sources close to the duke. The Duke of Sussex recently completed a five-day visit to Britain for engagements linked to his patronages, during which he met his father, King Charles.
Family Visit Details
Although the duke was initially expected to be joined by his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for the entire trip, plans changed at the last minute due to security concerns. The Sussexes did travel to Gloucester, where they held a private meeting with the monarch and the Queen at Highgrove House, their private residence. It was the first time Archie and Lilibet met their grandfather in person in four years.
Legal and Security Challenges
Sources now claim that the duke “hopes” to arrange more meetings with his father to allow his American children to spend more time with the King. According to the Mirror, Harry will continue to “lobby” the Home Office for an urgent review into his security in Britain. The duke had been awaiting a review by the Risk Management Board (RMB), part of the process through which the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) rules on his security requirements. However, he learned just before his recent trip that the review had not yet taken place.
Previous Statements
When the duke lost a Court of Appeal challenge against the Home Office last year, he gave a BBC interview in which he expressed hopes of reconciliation with his family, revealing that King Charles would not speak to him because of his security court case. Harry added: “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point and the things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything you know.”
No decision on Harry’s security has been made yet. The duke continues to press for a resolution that would allow his family to visit the UK more freely.
