Police have returned to a remote South Australian property where four-year-old Gus Lamont was last seen six months ago. Officers searched several locations on Oak Park Station on Wednesday, March 11, as part of the ongoing investigation into the boy's disappearance.
Gus was last seen on the property on September 27, 2025, prompting multiple large-scale searches. A police spokesman confirmed the team would be searching several locations for evidence.
In February, police announced they had identified a suspect believed to be known to the young boy, and the incident was escalated to a major crime. Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke stated there were discrepancies and inconsistencies in information provided by some family members. The suspect, who resides at Oak Park Station, has withdrawn cooperation with police.
Authorities have ruled out the hypothesis that Gus wandered away and became disoriented. The remaining lines of enquiry focus on whether he was taken by a stranger or if someone familiar to him was involved in his disappearance and presumed death.
The investigation is centred on individuals acquainted with Gus potentially being connected to his disappearance. Police have not named the suspect, but confirmed it is not one of Gus's parents.
