The Administrative Review Tribunal of Australia has accepted that three Israeli siblings face a well-founded fear of persecution if forced to return to Israel, granting them the right to reapply for protection visas.
Tribunal ruling
The tribunal found the siblings could be persecuted for refusing conscription into the Israel Defense Forces because of their political opinion on the war in Gaza. They argued they would be forced to break international humanitarian law if they served.
The decision allows them to reapply for protection visas in Australia, in what was described as an exclusive development.
Separately, One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts has repeatedly referenced the concept of remigration, saying in two recent podcasts that the party wanted to deport 100,000 temporary residents and 100,000 international students.
