Marco Antonio Alvarado Hernández's life came to a tragic end on Wednesday afternoon near the border city of Mission, Texas. According to witnesses and official statements, the Honduran national entered the water while being pursued by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.
The incident occurred around 2:30 PM local time when ICE agents attempted to apprehend Alvarado Hernández. Fearing capture, the immigrant made the fateful decision to enter the irrigation canal in a desperate bid for freedom.
Rescue Efforts Come Too Late
Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of a person in distress in the water. Despite extensive search efforts by local fire departments and border patrol agents, Alvarado Hernández was pulled from the canal unresponsive.
