Hackers have claimed to have gained access to Jeffrey Epstein's private Outlook email account by guessing an 'obvious' password revealed in the latest release of files from the US Department of Justice. The files, which include over three million pages, thousands of videos and images, were made public last week and contain details of several of the disgraced financier's accounts, including Yahoo and Apple ID.
On Reddit, users reported successfully logging into Epstein's Outlook account using passwords such as '#1Island', 'ghislaine', and 'jenjen12', which were among the information in the documents. One user wrote: 'I'm in Epstein's Outlook. What should I look for?' However, the hackers said there was little of interest once inside.
The email account, jeevacation@gmail.com, was Epstein's most frequently used address for correspondence with high-profile figures, including Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, and Lord Peter Mandelson. The latest release also included photos, such as one appearing to show Andrew with an unidentified woman. Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
The documents also contain emails suggesting Sarah Ferguson thanked Epstein for being 'the brother I have always wished for', and that Epstein wired thousands of pounds for Lord Mandelson's husband's osteopathy course fees. Another exchange with Elon Musk discussed flying to Epstein's island, with Musk asking about the 'wildest party'.
Thousands of references to Donald Trump appear in the files, including emails sharing news articles and a spreadsheet summarising calls to the FBI with unsubstantiated claims against him. The Department of Justice stated that the production may include fake or falsely submitted images and documents, and that the claims against Trump are 'unfounded and false'.
