Foreign Office Warns Brits of Deadly Turkey Holiday Risks

The Foreign Office has issued urgent travel warnings for British holidaymakers heading to Turkey following several deaths.

Deadly Risks Highlighted

The FCDO is highlighting deadly risks from popular holiday activities including paragliding, quad biking and jeep safaris. "British nationals have been injured and killed doing extreme sports," the Foreign Office warned.

Travellers are urged to use only reputable operators and ensure proper training before activities. The guidance emphasises checking travel insurance covers all planned activities.

Counterfeit Alcohol Threat

Dangerous counterfeit alcohol poses another serious threat to British tourists. "Even small amounts of methanol can kill," the FCDO states, warning that people have died after drinking illegally produced spirits.

Swimming Dangers

Swimming dangers are also highlighted in the updated advice. "Every year, people drown in the sea and in swimming pools in Turkey," officials warn.

The guidance advises holidaymakers to supervise children at all times and avoid diving into unknown waters due to hidden rocks and strong undercurrents.
