Kendra Duggar Arrested on Child Abuse Charges; Family Claims Persecution

Arkansas police have arrested Kendra Duggar, wife of reality TV personality Joseph Duggar, on misdemeanor child abuse charges. The Washington County Sheriff's Office confirmed Kendra Duggar faces four counts each of endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment. She has a hearing scheduled for Monday.

The arrest comes days after her husband, Joseph Duggar, was charged in Florida with lewd and lascivious behavior against a child under 12. According to an arrest affidavit, Joseph admitted to touching a nine-year-old girl inappropriately during a family trip to Panama City Beach, stating his 'intentions were not pure.'

Kendra's charges are unrelated to Joseph's case, according to local news outlet KNWA. The family, known for TLC's '19 Kids and Counting,' has described the arrests as persecution. The show was canceled in 2015 after eldest son Joshua faced molestation allegations; he is now imprisoned for possessing child sex abuse images.

Joseph, 31, is the seventh-oldest of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's 19 children. He married Kendra in 2017 when she was 19. The couple has four children aged three to seven.
