A British man has died after being assaulted in the Algarve resort of Lagos, Portugal. The victim, believed to be aged 60, was reportedly kicked or punched in the head in the town's bar and nightclub area.
Emergency medical responders attempted to revive him at the scene before he was rushed to Lagos Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Paramedics, firefighters, and officers from Portugal's PSP police force responded to the incident.
A PSP official confirmed the death and stated that a Portuguese suspect is currently with police, though it is unclear if a formal arrest has been made. Officers from Portugal's Policia Judiciaria are now investigating, with the aim of gathering evidence to present the principal suspect before a judge on Monday.
It remains unknown whether the assault occurred inside a nightclub or on the street, and police have not disclosed further details. The victim's identity, place of residence, and whether he was on holiday or living in Portugal have not been confirmed.
