A British pensioner has been found dead after disappearing while on holiday in Spain. Iain Stanley, 79, was last seen near the Perla Marina Hotel in Nerja, on the Costa del Sol, on February 11.
Mr Stanley left a holiday home and was last sighted at about 2pm that day. He was wearing black jeans, a shirt, and a blue jacket, and was without his mobile phone or passport. His wife reported him missing, prompting an investigation by the Civil Guard.
Rescue teams located Mr Stanley's body near Ladera del Mar and Tamango Hill, a steep area with ravines separating Nerja from Torrox. Forensic teams are at the scene, and an autopsy will determine the cause of death. Police have said there is no sign of criminal involvement, suggesting he may have become disorientated during a walk.
During the search, officers expressed great concern, noting they had little information to go on. A reported sighting by a taxi driver in Torrox was later ruled out. Tributes have been posted online, with one person writing: 'Terrible news. My thoughts are with his family.'
