British Woman Dies in Fall from Benidorm Hotel Balcony

A British woman has died after falling from the ninth-floor balcony of a hotel in Benidorm, Spain. Danielle Hall, 21, from Newcastle, suffered fatal injuries in the early hours of Sunday morning, just a day after arriving for a week-long holiday.

Hall, a supermarket worker, was staying at the three-star Bermudas apartment hotel with her boyfriend, Jordan Bevan, 23, and his grandmother. Local reports indicate she lost her balance and fell over the balcony railing at around 2am while answering the door to a relative also staying at the hotel.

A spokeswoman for the Bermudas hotel expressed the staff's shock, stating: 'We can’t give much more information about what happened because we weren’t there when it happened. It was about 2am. The police were here, along with firefighters, ambulance crews and forensic officers. We’re still coming to terms with what’s happened.'

Spanish police have confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. A police spokesman said: 'She was on holiday in Benidorm with her family and her boyfriend. At about two in the morning, she fell six floors – about 25 metres – and died.' The British consulate has been informed, and an investigation has been launched under judicial supervision.

The group had reportedly travelled to Benidorm for its annual festival, which began on Friday and concludes on Wednesday. Police have stated there is no indication of foul play at this stage.
