British Influencer Arrested in Majorca Over Alleged Poisoning Plot

A British influencer, aged 45, has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to kill her husband by drugging his wine, following reports that she pressured him to secure life insurance policies. The incident unfolded in Majorca, where the woman, a Spanish national with British parentage, was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Hospitalisation and Police Allegations

Earlier this year, the husband was hospitalised for three days after medical tests revealed tranquilisers in his system. Upon his release, he filed a police report alleging that his wife poisoned him on January 10. According to his statement to the police's Family and Women's Unit, which is leading the investigation, he recounted a disturbing evening where his wife filled two wine glasses and instructed him to drink from hers, claiming it contained more.

After tasting the drink, he complained about its bad flavour, but his wife allegedly insisted he finish it entirely. He subsequently fell into a deep sleep and was admitted to hospital, where tests confirmed he had ingested a significant quantity of two types of sedative drugs. When questioned by medical staff, he denied taking any substances voluntarily.

Life Insurance Pressure and Legal Proceedings

The husband disclosed that he had a will naming his brother as executor, but his wife had been persistently urging him to take out life insurance policies. Following his allegations, the woman was brought before a court in Palma on Thursday evening. Images published by Spanish media show her in handcuffs, escorted by two police officers. The judge released her with a restraining order, which in Spain typically prohibits the accused from approaching within 200 to 500 metres of the victim or communicating with them.

Background and Social Media Presence

The woman is a respected English teacher and author who has made regular appearances on Spanish talk shows, amassing a large social media following of nearly 400,000 Instagram followers. The couple resides in Palma and has a young son together. Police are continuing to investigate the case, with no further details released at this time.
