A British TikTok influencer has been arrested in Majorca on suspicion of attempting to poison her husband with a drugged glass of wine. Amanda Jeffrey, 45, was detained by Spain's National Police in Palma de Mallorca on Wednesday.
The mother-of-one, who holds Spanish citizenship but has one British parent, was released from court on Thursday subject to a restraining order. Her husband Victor spent four days in hospital after consuming a drink allegedly prepared by her, which was spiked with tranquillisers.
According to reports, the incident occurred during a dinner on January 10, when Jeffrey passed her husband a glass of wine. Victor later told police that after pouring the wine, his wife suggested they swap glasses as she did not want to drink that much. He noticed a strange taste and felt drowsy, then lost consciousness for 15 hours.
Medical tests allegedly found a high quantity of benzodiazepine, a sedative, in his blood. Victor reported the incident to police, believing his wife had tried to kill him. Jeffrey, a blogger and writer with over 400,000 Instagram followers, had previously made a documentary titled 'Mallorca No Es Magaluf' in 2014.
Just eight months before the arrest, she had posted a picture marking the couple's sixth wedding anniversary, writing: '6 years married. Still standing. Still loving. Still us.' The police investigation is ongoing.
