Spanish police have arrested a British couple, both aged between 40 and 45, in connection with an alleged attempted kidnap in Palma, Majorca. The incident occurred on Sunday at around 1pm local time in the Son Ferriol neighbourhood.
The couple allegedly tried to force a 64-year-old Spanish woman into their car as she walked along Maria Anna Bonafe street. According to reports, the British man got out of the vehicle and approached the woman before attempting to bundle her into the car. The victim threw herself to the ground and screamed for help.
Witnesses, including the woman's husband and nearby shopkeepers, rushed to her aid and prevented the alleged kidnap attempt. The British couple was arrested near the scene about an hour later and is currently being held in custody.
A spokesperson for the National Police in Majorca confirmed the arrests and stated that the victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries and discharged shortly afterwards. The investigation is ongoing.
The victim's daughter, Isabel, told local media that her mother was waiting for her when a white car pulled up. The driver, wearing pyjamas, allegedly shouted aggressively, 'I'm telling you to get in,' and tried to force her into the vehicle. Isabel said her mother suffered bruises and neck pain.
