Barron Trump, the 19-year-old son of US President Donald Trump, has been credited with saving a woman's life after she called him during a violent assault by her ex-boyfriend, a London court has heard.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, testified at Snaresbrook Crown Court that she contacted Trump via FaceTime in January last year as Matvei Rumiantsev, 22, allegedly began attacking her out of jealousy over her friendship with the president's son.
Trump immediately alerted UK authorities, telling a 911 operator: “I just got a call from a girl I know. She’s getting beaten up.” He provided her address and stressed the urgency, saying: “It’s really an emergency, please. I got a call from her with a guy beating her up.”
Bodycam footage played in court showed police arriving at the scene and the woman explaining that she had contacted Trump. One officer was heard telling a colleague: “So apparently this informant from America is likely to be Donald Trump’s son.” Officers later asked the woman to call Trump back to confirm his involvement.
During the call, Trump described what he witnessed: “She called me. I picked up the phone expecting a nice hello or something. I just saw a ceiling and could hear screaming. I could see a guy’s head on the phone, and then the camera turns to her crying and getting hit.” He added: “I called you guys — that was the best thing I could do.”
The woman said Trump “helped save my life” and described the call as “a sign from God”. Rumiantsev denies charges including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of rape, intentional strangulation, and perverting the course of justice. The trial continues.
